As an avid investor, I have had the opportunity to invest in dozens of different stocks. Most have been winners, but some have been losers. If I had followed my 10 tips for investing in stocks more closely, I would definitely have come out on top more often. Read these 10 tips for investing in stocks to maximize your return while minimizing your risk.

10 Tips for Investing in Stocks: Tip #1

Invest in what you know. Through your everyday life, you have no doubt come into contact with companies and products your rave about. This is an excellent starting point as you start to think about what stocks to invest in. Investing in companies you are familiar with and enjoy gives you invaluable knowledge about your investment.

10 Tips for Investing in Stocks: Tip #2

Read the company's 10-K, the annual report. All public companies in the United States and many private ones file 10-K's with the Securities and Exchange Commission. These can be downloaded for free and are filled with invaluable information. Everything from a description of the industry and products, operations, marketing, financials, and litigation are discussed. Read the 10-K to become familiar with your potential investment.

10 Tips for Investing in Stocks: Tip #3

Read the company's most recent 10-Q, or quarterly report. Much shorter than the 10-K, the quarterly report details the most recent financials available for the company. A brief discussion of the financials, ongoing litigation, or important head- and tailwinds is also discussed. Reading the 10-Q will give you insight as to the most recent developments of the company.

10 Tips for Investing in Stocks: Tip #4

Know the company's management team. A company's management navigates the firm through crises, makes operational decisions, and has a huge impact on profitability. Look for a management team with significant experience in both good times and bad. A seasoned management team will almost always outperform a green management team when unexpected calamities arise.

10 Tips for Investing in Stocks: Tip #5

Read the company's most recent investor's presentation. Investor presentations are periodically given by most corporations, and are found on the company's website. The investor presentation outlines recent performance, investment opportunities, and gives the management's view of future profitability. This document is an excellent indicator of what the company believes future performance will be.

10 Tips for Investing in Stocks: Tip #6

Understand what makes a stock price move up and down. Theoretically, all of the future profits of a firm are combined to come up with today's stock market price. If you believe most investors are either over estimating or under estimating future profitability, then you believe the stock price is wrong. Invest in stocks where you believe most investors are underestimating profitability so you can capitalize on your projected upswing.

10 Tips for Investing in Stocks: Tip #7

Research any outstanding litigation. Litigation can have a positive or detrimental effect on stock price. Make sure you understand what court cases the company is involved in and any potential settlements or judgments than may affect profitability.

10 Tips for Investing in Stocks: Tip #8

Read and understand the company's financial statements. Knowing how much debt a company has, what the debt service obligation is, and when debt is due is vital to investment decisions. Make sure your projections of company profitability cover all debt obligations to ensure you do not buy an investment on the verge of default.

10 Tips for Investing in Stocks: Tip #9

Gather third party research. Read what others think about the company to help form your own opinion. Remember that third party research isn't necessarily right - but just an opinion as to what the potential stock investment is all about. Read what these researchers think and incorporate it into your thoughts on future profitability.

10 Tips for Investing in Stocks: Tip #10

Know the stock's investor base. The investor base is the list of all investors in a stock; a heavily concentrated investor base means a few investors wield undue influence over the stock's price. A heavily invested investor who sells the stock may cause the price to tumble, and vice versa.

The key to successful stock investing is researching and understanding your investments. Keep on top of company developments to know when to sell and to see if your investment will continue to perform.

To the outsider, the stock market appears random and erratic. What makes a stock go up or down? Experts can't seem to predict the market, so why should I even try? This uncertainty scares many potential investors away from the market and its high rate of returns. People are missing out on good money!

This is sad, because the stock market is more predictable than it appears. While they may look similar, stocks are not gambling. This article will shed some light on the unpredictable stock market and will hopefully make things predictable.

First, I have to concede one thing. The stock market is very unpredictable in the short-term. The market severely overreacts to news, whether it's company earnings, economic factors, or something silly like who wins the Super Bowl. Nobody can predict all the news, which makes the stock market unpredictable in the short-term.

But in the long-term (6-months to a few years or more), the stock market is very predictable. If the company makes a lot of money, the stock's price will go up. If the company doesn't make money, the stock price will go down.

When I purchase a share of a company, let's call it Predictable Stock Market, Inc., I am buying a portion of this business...and a portion of the money the comapny makes. I pay $60 for one share, which represents one of 6 million shares of the company. Let's say Predictable Stock Market, Inc. then earns $6 million in profit the next year. That means my portion of the earnings is $6. That's how much you're $75 share of Predictable Stock Market, Inc. made!

Now Predictable Stock Market, Inc. has a choice. The company can give that $6 directly to you as a dividend, or it can reinvest that $6 into the company to make even more money in the future. Let's say Predictable Stock Market, Inc. decides to give $2 to you as a dividend and reinvest $4 into expanding operations. The reinvested portion of earnings make the stock price go up, making your $60 share of stock will be worth around $64. And you'll have $2 of cash in your hand. It's that simple!

So you purchased the stock at $60. It's not worth $4 more and you have $2 in cash. That means your return was $6/$60...10%.

Now company's earnings are not erratic or random. If you were asked how much money Coke will make next year, where would you look first? Most likely, you'd see how much Coke made last year? (You might also look for the years before that and see if there's a history of growth, and then add that growth to last year's profits, but that's not really important). And you'd be pretty close! Unless something drastic happens, Coke will probably sell as many sodas and make as much money as it did last year.

So let's see how much we should expect to make this year if we purchase one share of Coca-Cola (KO). I go to finance.yahoo.com to find the data. One share of Coke sells for $48. Last year Coke paid $1.24 per share in dividends, and earned another $2.23 per share that it reinvested into making more soda. If the same holds true (it probably will), then I'll earn $3.47 ($1.24 + $2.23). Spending $48 to earn $3.47 equates to a 7.2% return. That's a lot more than my bank account or money market will make!

Now this won't be 100% accurate. Remember that the market will overreact to news and current events. But over the long haul, Coke will keep earning that same rate, and you can accurately predict the unpredictable stock market.

Are you still skeptical? Try it for a year! Track some sticks and predict what will happen this year. Most likely, you'll be very close in all your predictions. Although I have to warn you - You'll be disappointed by all the money you missed out on!

Don't forget, you will want to include broker fees into your calculations. For more on minimizing broker fees, read Avoid Broker Fees! Here are the Best Places to Buy Stocks.

And there you have it! Stock market investing is not gambling and it's not rocket science. If a company makes money, its stock will go up! Now that you know this, you can accurately predict the unpredictable stock market. And hopefully you can earn good, predictable returns on your investments!

Computer technology has become one of the most strong tool within the world of art and media. More and more firms are opening jobs for graphics designers who can carry out many computer-related tasks. Web designers are very in demand globally, their work is

PhotoShop Tutorial: Create cutting edge graphics with the latest trend in the "Gel Look". Embossed, translucent letters with a surface sheen and highlighting. Give your web design and print media the high-tech, 21st century look with this surprisingly easy technique pioneered by the author. This tutorial is for intermediate to advanced users who have an understanding of basic PhotoShop tools and techniques. For PhotoShop 6.0 and above.

First, choose a block-letter san-serif font. In this example, I used a common font, Arial Black, sized at 48 points. Other suggestions: VAG Rounded, bold (looks great with Gel) or Verdana, bold. (See picture #1) For practice use the same font size I did, since the Bevel and Emboss settings will need adjustment if you resize the font.

Select a medium shade of a color that fits your design scheme. In this example, I used the currently fashionable cerulean blue. (R=79, G=143, B=195)

Now to work the Magic! Rather than use multiple layers and complex overlays, we will achieve the Gel Look on a single layer by using only four Styles in the Layer Style palettes. Many of these settings are the default, so don't be put off by the seeming length of the list. Entering the numbers actually takes very little time.

1. From the menu bar at top, select Layers, Layer Styles then Inner Shadow. (See picture #2)
In the Structures Section, set the following parameters:
Blend Mode: Multiply
Click the color box and select a darker shade of your color. In this case I chose: R=53, G=124, b=192
Opacity: 80
Angle: 120
Distance: 0
Choke: 30
Size: 16

In the Quality Section:
Contour: (select the icon that is a square divided diagonally)
Alias: (leave unchecked)
Noise: 0

2. From the menu bar at top, select Layers, layer Styles, then Inner Glow. (See picture #3)
In the Structures Section, set the following parameters:
Blend Mode: Screen
Noise: 0
Then click the radio button next to the little square colored box. Then click on the color box and, in the color picker select a lighter shade of your color. In this
example, I used R=75 G=189 B=222

In the Quality Section:
Contour: (select the icon that is a square divided diagonally
Alias: (leave unchecked)
Noise: 0

3. From the menu bar at top, select Layers, then Layer Style: Bevel and Emboss. (See picture #4)
In the Structure section, set the following parameters:
Style: Inner Bevel
Technique: Chisel Hard
Depth: 350
Direction: Up
Size: 131 px
Soften: 5 px

In the Shading section, set these parameters:
Angle: 120
Altitude: 30
Gloss Contour: (choose the icon that looks like stair-steps)
Anti-aliased: (unchecked)
Highlight mode: Screen
Opacity: 61
Shadow mode: Multiply (the color box defaults to black, if not set to R=0, G=0, B=0)
Opacity: 0

4. From the menu bar at top, select Layers, then Layer Style: Satin. (See picture #5)
Blend Mode: Multiply
Click the color box and select a bright shade of your color. In this case I chose: R=37, G=182, B=230
Opacity: 100
Angle:100
Distance: 68 px
Size: 191 px
Contour: (Select the icon that looks like a square divided diagonally by a wavy line)
Anti-aliased: (unchecked)
Invert: Select by clicking in check box

That's It! Your Gel Letters are ready to go. It can be fun also playing with the settings and parameters to see how the effects change.
I encourage you to experiment, after all, that's how I came up with this technique. Good Luck with your project!

Precisely what is the actual Currency markets? It truly is the prepared method where by any person along with anyone can certainly sometimes acquire or perhaps promote their own stocks or maybe explains to you

how to invest in the stock market by StockTrading Simulator

One of the stock investing terms that you are likely to hear regularly is "valuation." Stock valuation is something that many investors look at when deciding what investments to make. Simply put, stock valuation is a measure of how much a stock is worth. A lot of the time, stock valuation is done in comparison to price. It is important to note that stock valuation and price are not necessarily the same thing.

Valuation v. price

Just because a stock has a certain price, does not mean that it is worth that much. The efficient market theory of valuation does posit that if a stock exchange trades at a high volume, and is organized well, the price will closely mirror the valuation. But this is not always true. Sometimes price is too high (over valued or undersold) or too low (under valued or oversold) for the true value of a stock.

There are psychological factors at play as well. As you know, the current economic climate makes it very difficult to predict the stock market. And swings in price are common as investors gain confidence or lose confidence in a stock or a sector. Indeed, these times can make it very hard for stock price to adhere closely to valuation.

Discounted cash flow theory of stock valuation

The most widely accepted theory of stock valuation (and there are many) is that of discounted cash flow. Discounted cash flow takes into account the issues of risk and other possible issues on future earnings. Discounted cash flow insists that there should be an accounting made for the time value of money, and it takes away risk from the value. This allows the investor to get a more accurate view of how much a stock is worth.

Buying stocks with good valuation

It is best practice to buy stocks with good valuation. This means that you want to invest in stocks that have a valuation that is close to the stock price. It is best if you can get a stock that is under valued. That way you will get it at a good price. And when the price finally catches up with the valuation, you will find that you have made a tidy profit.

Disadvantages connected with trading throughout any amount of money stocks

Trading Offshore Stockbrokers by Investors Europe

In this day and age, almost everything is moving over to the internet. Stock trading is no exception. Online trading offers a lot of great advantages, especially for beginners looking to just get started.

Being a young college student, I wanted to jumpstart by financial status by starting to invest some of the money I earned working an internship. After reading books and looking on the internet, I quickly found that online trading is the best option for someone like me. The internet allows you to be your own stock broker, which can save you a lot of money in brokerage fees. It also allows you to buy fractional shares of stock, for those who are on a tight budget but still want to buy into their favorite companies.

The most known online stock trading website is Sharebuilder.com. They run countless TV ads and can be seen in most financial magazines. I originally started out by investing with Sharebuilder and had an enjoyable experience with them. There are a couple types of services including basic, bronze and gold. I used the basic service which has no monthly fees but charges $4.00 per automatic trade. Automatic trades allow you to setup a portfolio and have it invest once a month, biweekly, or weekly depending on your preference. However, if you every want to buy/sell shares in real-time, it will cost you $15.00 per trade. This can add up very quickly, especially if you are only dealing with limited amounts of money. Because of this, I recently switched to a new service, known as Sogoinvest.com.

Sogoinvest.com is a rather new company based in New York City. What made me decide to switch was the rates they offer. Upon signing up, you will receive a 90 day promotional package which allows you to buy and sell stocks for only $1.00, in real-time! This is 1/15th the cost of Sharebuilder.com. It works very well if you want to buy shares for short amounts of time and then sell them for a profit. Once the 90 day promotion is up, the fees will increase to $3.00 unless you sign up for a gold or silver package. However, this is still 1/5th the cost of Sharebuilder.com.

Overall, I would recommend anyone that is starting out in the investing world, to check out both Sharebuilder and SogoInvest. Sharebuilder offers more tutorials and information but Sogo has the best rates hands down.

How You Can Retain An Appliance Repair Company: Convenient Steps To Create Your Life Easier Internet Advertisements For Appliance Repair Specialists

Appliances Repair in VA by kattyjamez

Appliance repairs are expensive. On the other hand, so are new appliances. Used appliances cost less, but then you are faced with repair costs again to keep them running. It's a vicious circle, but one we can break by doing our own appliance repairs.

Before the advent of the Internet, especially the World Wide Web, do-it-yourself appliance repair was problematic to say the least. Manuals were expensive, if you could find them at all, and parts were often hard to locate. I found myself doing a lot of figuring it out as I went - not always the best strategy for machinery repair.

Now, though, there are a wide range of resources available online for the do-it-yourself repairman. This article will guide you through some of the options. Though it is by no means an exhaustive list, there is plenty here to see you through to saving money by fixing it yourself.

The Good (Recommended)

American Appliance is my first stop for appliance repair information. The best features of this site are the diagnostic charts and the exploded views of subsystems with all the parts labeled. This site is invaluable for identifying potential causes of your problems and identifying the parts responsible so you can order replacements.

Appliance Aid offers a decent repair information section with detailed instructions for diagnosing and repairing many common problems. My biggest gripe with these instructions are they way they are formatted. More white space and some paragraph breaks would make these pages much more readable and, thus, more useful. In spite of that, this site provides excellent information on lots of different appliances and brands, along with a listing of manufacturers' telephone numbers and a section of appliance repair jokes for easing the stress.

Samurai Appliance Repair Man The Samurai Appliance Repair Man hosts a blog and a number of forums where you can ask questions about your appliance problems and get answers from the host and from other forum users. The Samurai Appliance Repair Man is occasionally sarcastic or satirical, but seems to give good advice. The forums are an excellent source of advice from experienced appliance repair professionals and do-it-yourselfers. He does ask that you contribute to his beer fund, though this is completely voluntary. It's a small price to pay for such good help.

Appliance Blog gives tips from an appliance repairman. The Appliance Blog also has asociated forums for quick access to other users' knowledge.

The Bad (Not Recommended)

Appliance411 is a Web site with no apparent purpose. It offers extremely limited help, and the forums are small and little-used. Parts listings are linked to RepairClinic.com.

ApplianceRepair.net is deceptively named. the only resources available here are printed and online manuals for purchase. It does have one feature of limited usefulness that lets you search for parts distributors by Area Code.

The Ugly (Don't Waste Your Time)

ApplianceStuff.com has VERY limited repair info. They have an online Parts Information Request Form, but no catalog.

Point and Click Appliance Repair is another site with extremely limited online help. If you purchase a part, they offer free help by e-mail.

Parts and Manuals

When the time comes to order parts, finding a trustworthy and dependable source is vital. These three sites offer online ordering and comprehensive parts catalogs. They accept major credit cards over a connection secured by Secure Sockets Layer technology. They all also have toll-free telephone numbers listed if you want to speak to a person.

RepairClinic.com is my preferred source for appliance parts. Their online catalog contains seemingly every appliance part you might ever need. If you don't know the part number or name or the maodel number of your appliance, their online Parts Detective will help you narrow your choices based on size, color, metallic or plastic, and location of the part in question. They keep virtually their entire catalog in stock and ship promptly. Highly recommended.

PartSelect.com carries an extensive inventory factory original or authorized replacement parts. They use several warehouses around North America, so parts can often be shipped from nearby for reduced shipping cost and fast delivery. The real drawback to PartSelect, and the consideration that keeps them from being my Number One pick, is that you must have the model number available to locate parts. Else, you have to browse through thousands of parts to find the right one. Since my washing machine, the appliance I spend the most time working on, has lost the plate containing the model number, this eliminated PartSelect from my top slot.

Appliance Parts Depot allows browsing to find the part you need by type of appliance, then brand name, then part description. Their catalog does not have pictures of many of the parts listed, so identification can be an adventure occasionally. AP Depot also has a Chat feature for help and support.

Do-it-yourself appliance repair is a good way to save money, if you have an adventurous mindset, and there is plenty of quality help available just a Web browser away.
